Get My Ip

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill does only what it claims: it uses curl to ask ifconfig.me for the machine's public IP address.

Install this only if you are comfortable with the agent making a request to ifconfig.me when you ask for your public IP. In restricted workplace or sensitive network environments, confirm that external IP-check services are allowed.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

The skill instructs the agent to contact a third-party service to obtain the host's public IP but does not warn that doing so discloses network-identifying information to that service. Even though a public IP is not a secret in the same way as credentials, sending it to an external endpoint can have privacy and operational implications, especially in enterprise or sensitive environments where external network beacons are restricted or monitored.
