Granola Meeting Notes API

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a coherent read-only Granola API skill, with a minor caution that it can access sensitive meeting notes and transcripts when authorized.

Install only if you are comfortable letting OpenClaw use your Granola API key to read meeting summaries, attendees, metadata, and transcripts. Prefer a personal key over a broad workspace key when possible, and be cautious with vague prompts mentioning Granola because the activation guidance is broad.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Tool MisuseTool Parameter Abuse, Chaining Abuse, Unsafe Defaults
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands

Chaining Abuse

High
Category
Tool Misuse
Confidence
75% confidence
Finding

Tool calls are chained to bypass individual safety checks or escalate capabilities beyond what any single tool call would allow.

md
- A Granola account on a **Business** or **Enterprise** plan
- `curl` and `jq` binaries must be installed on your system:
Linux: `sudo apt update && sudo apt install curl jq -y`
      macOS: `brew install curl jq`
      Windows: `winget install jqlang.jq`

Sudo/Root Execution

Category
Privilege Escalation
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

Commands invoke sudo or root privileges. Verify this elevated access is necessary and justified.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
93% confidence
Finding

The skill is configured to trigger whenever the user mentions 'Granola' by name, which is broader than necessary for a data-access skill that retrieves meeting notes, attendee lists, and transcripts. This can cause unintended invocation and disclosure of sensitive meeting metadata or content in conversations where the user did not clearly request Granola data access.

External Transmission

Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
60% confidence
Finding

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.
