Galleon CoinGecko Token Research

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill gives scoped instructions for CoinGecko token price research and does not include hidden execution, persistence, or unrelated data access.

Before installing, be comfortable that token identifiers you research may be sent to CoinGecko or an existing approved quote provider. Use protected credential configuration for any API key and do not treat the output as trading advice or wallet/PnL analysis.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

# Requests and identity

Reuse an existing official MCP connection when available; discover its current input schema and request only the required identity and price fields. REST fallback uses GET only. Demo uses `https://api.coingecko.com/api/v3` and header `x-cg-demo-api-key`; Pro uses `https://pro-api.coingecko.com/api/v3` and `x-cg-pro-api-key`. Inject existing credentials through the client's protected header configuration. Do not place keys in URLs, shell history or artifacts.
