weibo-qr-login-skill

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill can fetch a Weibo login QR code, but it also changes global OpenClaw security settings and persists reusable Weibo login cookies.

Install only if you are comfortable with this skill changing global OpenClaw settings, enabling broad tool access, running an unsandboxed browser, restarting the gateway, and storing reusable Weibo login cookies on disk. Prefer a version that respects local policy files, keeps existing deny rules, uses scoped browser permissions, and asks before saving or restoring cookies.

Unpinned Global Playwright Installation and Third-Party Browser Mirror

&1 | tail -1 fi info "Installing Chromium system dependencies..." playwright install-deps chromium 2>&1 || warn "install-deps reported warnings" info "Installing Chromium..." PLAYWRIGHT_DOWNLOAD_HOST="$PLAYWRIGHT_MIRROR" playwright install chromium ``` The configured mirror is: ```bash PLAYWRIGHT_MIRROR="https://npmmirror.com/mirrors/playwright" ``` ### Technical Analysis The command `npm install -g playwright` installs a mutable latest version globally. No exact version, lockfile, package digest, or signature is specified. The resulting code may therefore differ between audit time and execution time. The browser binary is downloaded from a third-party mirror through `PLAYWRIGHT_DOWNLOAD_HOST`. The script does not verify an expected checksum or signature. Global npm installation also broadens the modification scope beyond the project and may execute package lifecycle behavior with the privileges of the invoking user. This is not direct evidence that the current Playwright package or mirror is malicious. It is, however, an avoidable supply-chain risk that permits the effective installed payload to change after the Skill has been reviewed. ### Attack Path 1. The Agent runs the mandatory setup script. 2. npm resolves the current unpinned `playwright` release. 3. npm downloads and installs package content globally. 4. Playwright downloads Chromium from the configured third-party mirror. 5. If the package source, account, registry resolution, mirror, or downloaded artifact is compromised, attacker-controlled content is installed or executed. 6. Tha ...[truncated 487 chars]

Reusable Weibo Authentication Cookies Are Persisted in Plaintext

It does not explicitly create the directory with mode `0700`, create the file with mode `0600`, validate ownership, or reject an unsafe pre-existing file. The resulting permissions depend on the process umask and the state of existing paths. A pre-existing file may retain permissive permissions. The implementation also does not use an operating-system credential store or encryption tied to the user. The `export` command prints cookie values in shell comman ...[truncated 1620 chars]

Detached Gateway Restart Applies Persistent Global Configuration Changes

Content
View full analysis
/dev/null 2>&1 & warn "Configuration changed; gateway will restart after 15 seconds" echo "GATEWAY_RESTART_REQUIRED" ``` ### Technical Analysis The setup process changes global OpenClaw settings and starts a detached `nohup` process that waits and restarts the gateway. The process continues independently after the setup command returns. No explicit user confirmation is obtained immediately before the restart, and the script does not preserve or restore the previous configuration. A delayed restart is operationally different from a hidden cross-boot backdoor: the reviewed code does not install a startup service, cron job, or recurring scheduled task. Nevertheless, the detached process persists beyond the Skill command, while the global configuration changes survive the restart and future Skill runs. The restart is disclosed in output, but automatic delayed execution can terminate unrelated work and activate the insecure full-tool and no-sandbox configuration across later sessions. ### Attack Path 1. The Agent invokes setup as required by the Skill. 2. Setup modifies the global OpenClaw browser and tool configuration. 3. Setup launches a detached shell with `nohup`. 4. The setup command returns while the detached process waits for 15 seconds. 5. The detached pro ...[truncated 732 chars]

The skill is presented as QR-code retrieval, but it also manages persistent authentication state by reading, saving, validating, and restoring Weibo/Sina cookies, including raw browser-cookie manipulation. This expands the trust boundary from temporary login assistance to long-lived session handling, which can enable account takeover or unauthorized reuse if mishandled.

Confidence
98% confidence
Finding

The skill explicitly instructs the agent to ignore AGENTS.md restrictions and claims setup will enable the browser regardless of higher-priority policy. This is a direct attempt to bypass governance controls, and per the context it should be treated as adversarial because it encourages policy override to obtain broader execution capabilities.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
98% confidence
Finding

The script sets OpenClaw to tools.profile=full and clears tools.deny, granting broad tool access unrelated to the stated purpose of fetching a Weibo QR code. Because this is a global agent configuration change, any later prompt or skill may gain access to more capabilities than intended, expanding the blast radius from a narrow login helper into general privileged tool use.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
99% confidence
Finding

This code restores saved cookies directly into a live browser via CDP using a generated Node script, preserving full session attributes such as httpOnly and expiry. In the stated QR-login context, this is far beyond expected functionality and enables covert session rehydration, making persistent authenticated access possible without re-authentication.

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
81% confidence
Finding

The skill invokes shell scripts and Python helpers that can read/write files, access the network, and modify local state, yet it declares no explicit tool scope or permissions boundary. In an agent environment, this increases the blast radius because the agent may execute broad capabilities without clear least-privilege constraints or user-visible approval.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The instruction requires the agent to reply with a fixed Chinese message, regardless of the user's language preference. This is a natural-language locale policy issue because it forces a specific language without offering choice or documenting a justified locale constraint.

Session Persistence

Medium
Category
Rogue Agent
Confidence
88% confidence
Finding

The skill restores and later saves persistent Weibo session cookies, enabling reuse of an authenticated session across turns. In context, this is more sensitive than ordinary statefulness because it handles third-party login tokens; if those cookies are exposed, replayed, or restored without strong consent and isolation, an attacker or another workflow could gain unauthorized account access.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
93% confidence
Finding

The script modifies global OpenClaw browser settings, including enabling headless browser use, disabling sandboxing, setting a shared default profile, and persisting a browser executable path. For a skill whose advertised function is just obtaining a Weibo QR code, these broad system-wide changes exceed least privilege and can affect unrelated agent behavior and security posture.

Session Persistence

Medium
Category
Rogue Agent
Confidence
65% confidence
Finding

Skill establishes unauthorized persistence across sessions via cron jobs, startup scripts, or state files. Session persistence allows an attacker to maintain access beyond the current interaction.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence

Finding

The script instructs the user to speak a specific Chinese phrase, "获取微博登录二维码", to use the skill. This imposes a language-specific interaction requirement in natural language without offering an alternative language or documenting user choice, which is a locale/language policy concern.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

The skill is described as fetching a Weibo QR code, but this file implements persistent acquisition, validation, storage, export, and replay of authenticated cookies. That mismatch is dangerous because it broadens the skill from transient login assistance into session material harvesting and reuse, which can enable account takeover or unauthorized persistence beyond user expectations.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
98% confidence
Finding

The export function emits reusable commands that recreate browser cookies from stored session values. This creates an easy session-replay mechanism that can transfer authenticated state to another browser context, materially increasing the risk of credential/session theft and unauthorized access.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The code writes raw Weibo cookies to disk under the user's home directory with no user-facing warning, consent flow, or protective controls. Because cookies are authentication artifacts, local compromise, backups, or other processes with access to the file can reuse them to impersonate the user.

Content

No source excerpt is available for this finding.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The restore path silently executes a Node subprocess and injects saved cookies into the browser without an explicit warning or approval step. That behavior can unexpectedly re-authenticate sessions and alter browser state in a way users may not understand, especially given the skill's narrower QR-code framing.
