Security audit

PixelVault Host Image

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill openly uploads selected images to PixelVault for public sharing, with proportionate permissions and explicit privacy precautions.

Upload only images you intend to share publicly. Check screenshots for secrets and personal information, including when importing an image URL. Anonymous links expire after 30 days; adding a key makes uploads permanent. Keep the API key private.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
50% confidence
Finding

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

Content

bash
curl -sS -F "file=@/path/to/image.png" \
  ${PIXELVAULT_API_KEY:+-H "Authorization: Bearer $PIXELVAULT_API_KEY"} \
  https://api.pixelvault.dev/v1/images

The response is JSON. The link is data.url:

Import an image that already has a URL (key required)

bash
curl -sS -X POST https://api.pixelvault.dev/v1/images \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PIXELVAULT_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \

Autonomous Decision Making

Medium
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
80% confidence
Finding

Skill enables autonomous high-impact decisions without human-in-the-loop verification. Critical operations (destructive commands, financial transactions, data deletion) should require explicit user confirmation.

Keyless is the default. Do not ask the user to sign up before the first upload.
If the user wants links that never expire, tell them to create a free account at
https://pixelvault.dev/dashboard/ and put the key in `PIXELVAULT_API_KEY`
(in OpenClaw: `skills.entries["pixelvault-host-image"].apiKey`).
