Firecrawl Build Scrape

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a narrow Firecrawl integration guide with no executable code or hidden persistence, but users should remember that scraping through Firecrawl sends target URLs and retrieved content to that service or deployment.

Install only if you are comfortable using Firecrawl for page extraction. Do not send private internal URLs, authenticated pages, secrets, or regulated content through the hosted service unless your organization has approved that data handling; use a properly controlled self-hosted Firecrawl deployment when those privacy boundaries matter.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

The skill instructs users to integrate a third-party scraping API but does not warn that supplied URLs and the fetched page contents are transmitted to Firecrawl. This can cause unintentional disclosure of sensitive internal URLs, authenticated resources, or regulated content if users assume scraping is local or privacy-preserving by default.
