Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a coherent Discord setup helper that stores a bot token locally and reviews access settings, with no evidence of hidden execution, exfiltration, or destructive behavior.

Install only if you intend this agent environment to manage your Discord bot token. The token will be stored locally in a .env file under ~/.claude, so keep the machine and account protected, rotate the token if exposed, and prefer invoking the skill explicitly for Discord setup rather than through generic setup questions.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns

  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Instruction Override

High
Category
Prompt Injection
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

This pattern attempts to override system instructions or ignore safety constraints. Without LLM analysis, manual review is recommended.

4. **If no, people are missing** → *"Have them DM the bot; you'll approve

everyone's in and we'll lock it."* Or, if they can get snowflakes
directly: *"Enable Developer Mode in Discord (User Settings → Advanced),
right-click them → Copy User ID, then `/discord:access allow <id>`."*
5. **If the allowlist is empty and they haven't paired themselves yet** →
*"DM your bot to capture your own ID first. Then we'll add anyone else

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The invocation description includes broad phrases like "how do I set this up" and "who can reach me," which are not uniquely tied to Discord and could cause the skill to activate in unrelated contexts. Because this skill handles and persists secrets, accidental invocation could route sensitive user input into a token-handling workflow or expose channel state unexpectedly.

Session Persistence

Medium
Category
Rogue Agent
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

The skill is explicitly designed to write a Discord bot token to a persistent file under ~/.claude/channels/discord/.env. Persisting secrets and configuration state increases the blast radius of accidental invocation, local compromise, or later misuse by other skills/processes that can read the same path.

Unrestricted Tool Access

Medium
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

Skill grants unrestricted tool access without appropriate constraints. An agent with unfettered tool access can perform arbitrary actions including file modification, network requests, and code execution.

6. **If policy is already `allowlist`** → confirm this is the locked state.

Sudo/Root Execution

Medium
Category
Privilege Escalation
Confidence
80% confidence
Finding

Commands invoke sudo or root privileges. Verify this elevated access is necessary and justified.

2. `mkdir -p ~/.claude/channels/discord`
3. Read existing `.env` if present; update/add the `DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN=` line,
preserve other keys. Write back, no quotes around the value.
4. `chmod 600 ~/.claude/channels/discord/.env` — the token is a credential.
5. Confirm, then show the no-args status so the user sees where they stand.

### `clear` — remove the token
