Security audit

Neomano Web Snapshot (Headless)

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a straightforward website screenshot helper with disclosed dependency installation and no evidence of hidden data access, persistence, or destructive behavior.

Install only if you are comfortable with the skill downloading Playwright/Chromium dependencies and saving screenshots of pages you ask it to capture. Avoid using it on private authenticated pages unless you are comfortable with the resulting screenshot being written to disk.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

Unpinned Dependencies

Low
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The dependency uses a caret range (^1.54.0), which permits automatic installation of newer compatible versions. This can introduce unexpected upstream changes or a compromised release into the build, reducing reproducibility and slightly increasing supply-chain risk. In this skill, Playwright is a powerful browser automation package, so dependency integrity matters, but the issue is still low severity because it is a common packaging practice rather than direct malicious behavior.

Unpinned Dependencies

Low
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

The devDependency uses a caret range (^1.58.2), allowing non-deterministic resolution of newer versions during development or testing. While this is less exposed than a runtime dependency, it still creates supply-chain and reproducibility risk if a bad or breaking upstream version is published. Because this package is only for testing, the practical impact is lower, but it remains a real weakness.

Missing User Warnings

Confidence
86% confidence
Finding

This shell script writes a new package.json file if one does not exist and then runs dependency installation commands that modify the local workspace. While comments describe the operations for maintainers, there is no user-facing disclosure such as a prompt or printed warning before making filesystem and environment changes.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
89% confidence
Finding

The script fetches a user-supplied URL with Playwright and writes a screenshot file to disk, but the only visible output is the final path after completion. There is no prior confirmation prompt, explanatory comment/docstring, or user-facing notice that the command will contact a remote site and persist captured page content locally.
