Security audit

Git Helper

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a straightforward Git workflow helper, with some powerful Git commands documented but aligned with its purpose and generally disclosed.

Review destructive Git commands before use, especially git reset --hard and any force push. The skill appears appropriate for Git assistance, but it can guide actions that change repository history or discard local work if the user approves them carelessly.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Tool MisuseTool Parameter Abuse, Chaining Abuse, Unsafe Defaults
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

Tool parameters are crafted to achieve unintended or unsafe behavior. Parameter abuse can bypass intended safety checks (e.g. shell=True, --force, dangerous glob patterns).

Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

This markdown file includes git reset --hard HEAD~1, which can permanently discard uncommitted changes and remove the last commit from the current branch state. The section labels the command as 'Discard last commit and changes' but does not provide an explicit caution, recovery guidance, or warning about irreversible data loss.
