mac-system-control

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a straightforward macOS control cheat sheet, but users should understand it can run powerful local system commands when invoked.

Install this only if you want the agent to help run macOS system commands. Review each requested action carefully, especially sudo shutdown or restart, process killing, emptying trash, screenshots, clipboard access, Wi-Fi changes, and the public-IP command that contacts ifconfig.me.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Rogue AgentSelf-Modification, Session Persistence
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
Findings (6)

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

The manifest description and the rest of the skill instructions are written entirely in Chinese and describe usage as if interaction will occur in Chinese, with no indication that other languages are supported or that the user can choose a locale. This creates a natural-language policy issue under the language/locale rule because the skill effectively imposes a specific language without opt-in or justification.

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
87% confidence
Finding

The command curl -s ifconfig.me sends a network request to a third-party external service, which transmits metadata such as the user's public IP and reveals that the agent contacted that domain. In a system-control skill, outbound network calls to external services are more sensitive because users may expect local-only administration actions.

Sudo/Root Execution

Medium
Category
Privilege Escalation
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

Commands invoke sudo or root privileges. Verify this elevated access is necessary and justified.

Session Persistence

Medium
Category
Rogue Agent
Confidence
75% confidence
Finding

Skill establishes unauthorized persistence across sessions via cron jobs, startup scripts, or state files. Session persistence allows an attacker to maintain access beyond the current interaction.
