Security audit

Id Tool

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill only reports local user and group identity information, but its documentation overstates the small bundled script's actual features.

Installers should treat this as a minimal identity-reporting helper, not a full replacement for the Unix id command. Expect incomplete option support unless the package is updated.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The code's general purpose aligns with reporting identity information, but it only prints the real UID and GID plus associated names. Although it fetches the effective UID, it never outputs it, and it does not retrieve or display supplementary groups. Therefore the implementation materially under-delivers relative to the declared description.
