GH Monitor

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a small GitHub monitoring helper with disclosed use of the GitHub CLI and optional scheduled notifications, with no evidence of hidden or destructive behavior.

Install only if you want an agent to use your existing GitHub CLI session for repository monitoring. Confirm the target repository, labels, and any cron schedule before enabling recurring checks, and be aware the package references support files that are not included.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The trigger phrase "watch repo" is broad and can plausibly match ordinary user requests that are only loosely related to this skill. In an agent environment, overly generic triggers increase the chance of accidental invocation, causing the skill to run GitHub-related commands or monitoring workflows when the user did not intend to use this capability.
