Security audit

Skill Builder

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is mostly a coherent Chinese-language skill-building assistant, but it asks users to provide a ClawHub token in chat and offers installation/publishing steps without enough safety controls.

Review generated skills before installing or publishing them. Do not paste a ClawHub token into chat; use a secret manager or environment variable with a narrow, short-lived token, and require explicit confirmation before any workspace install or publish action.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Insecure Skill Coding PracticesFinds exploitable flaws such as hardcoded secrets or command injection
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Vulnerability Type: Plaintext sensitive credential exposure
Risk Level: Medium

Technical Analysis

The Skill explicitly asks the user to provide a ClawHub token through the conversational interface. Authentication tokens are bearer credentials and should not be transmitted through ordinary chat messages because such messages may be retained in conversation history, application logs, observability systems, model context, or debugging records.

The instruction does not define a secure secret-entry mechanism, token redaction, minimum required scopes, storage restrictions, or credential deletion after use. Although the audited project contains no code that automatically transmits the token elsewhere, requesting it in plaintext unnecessarily places a sensitive credential in Agent-visible and potentially logged context.

Attack Path

  1. A user invokes the Skill to create a new Skill package.
  2. After construction, the Skill offers to publish the package to ClawHub.
  3. Following the instruction at SKILL.md:102, the user enters a ClawHub token directly into the conversation.
  4. The token becomes part of the Agent context and may also be retained by chat history, telemetry, logs, or debugging infrastructure.
  5. An unauthorized party with access to any retained copy could extract the token.
  6. The party could authenticate to ClawHub and perform any operation authorized by the token until it expires or is revoked.

Impact Assessment

The obtainable privileges are limited to those granted to the disclosed ClawHub token. Depending on its scopes, exposure could permit unauthorized publication, modification, replacement, or removal of Skill packages and access to associated account or repositor ...[truncated 370 chars]

Remediation Suggestions

  • Remove the instruction asking users to disclose tokens in conversation.
  • Require credentials to be supplied through a dedicated secret manager, protected credential prompt, or environment variable such as CLAWHUB_TOKEN.
  • Instruct the Agent to reference only the variable or secret identifier and never print, repeat, persist, or summarize its value.
  • Use narrowly scoped, short-lived publication tokens rather than broad account credentials.
  • Obtain explicit user confirmation immediately before publishing without displaying the credential.
  • Ensure application logging and telemetry redact authorization headers, token-shaped values, environment variables, and secret-manager responses.
  • Clear temporary authentication state after publication and provide token revocation and rotation guidance if accidental disclosure occurs.
  • Prefer an authorization flow in which the user authenticates directly with ClawHub and the Agent receives only a constrained, ephemeral capability.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The activation text is broad enough to match general requests about creating or designing something new, which can cause the skill to activate outside its intended scope. Overbroad triggering is dangerous because it can hijack unrelated conversations, steer users into a skill-construction workflow unexpectedly, and amplify the impact of any risky behaviors the skill contains.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The natural-language description and workflow are written to operate in Chinese, but there is no indication that users may choose another language or that the skill is intentionally limited to a Chinese-only context. This can violate language/locale policy when a skill implicitly enforces one language without opt-in.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

Confidence
93% confidence
Finding

The skill’s stated role is requirement elicitation and skill construction, but it also offers to install the generated skill into the user workspace and support publication. That expands its authority from advisory design into deployment/distribution, which can enable unreviewed or unsafe generated skills to be placed into an execution environment without a clear security gate.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
91% confidence
Finding

Introducing ClawHub token handling/publication is outside the narrowly described purpose of building a skill through dialogue, and it encourages collection or use of sensitive credentials in a context that does not establish safeguards. This increases the risk of token exposure, over-privileged actions, or accidental publication of unsafe content.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

This markdown file contains user-facing instructional content exclusively in Chinese, and there is no indication that the skill or reference is intentionally limited to Chinese-speaking users. The policy requires flagging language or locale constraints when they are forced without user opt-in or clear justification.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium

Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

This markdown file is entirely written in Chinese and presents its guidance as the default skill-question framework, with no indication that users may choose another language. Under the policy, forcing a specific language without user opt-in is a natural-language policy violation unless the locale constraint is explicitly documented and justified.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The entire skill reference is written in Chinese and does not indicate that language selection is optional or configurable. Under the stated policy, forcing a specific language without user opt-in is a natural-language policy concern.
