DriftGuard Security Scanner+

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a local security scanner whose file reading, hashing, reports, and baselines match its stated purpose.

Install only if you want a local scanner that reads the target folder and writes local reports or baselines. Do not point it at broad private directories unless you are comfortable with file names, hashes, manifests, and finding excerpts being saved in the output files.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • System Prompt LeakageDirect Leakage, Indirect Extraction, Tool-Based Exfiltration

Tp4

High
Category
MCP Tool Poisoning
Confidence
99% confidence
Finding

The skill advertises substantial security-scanning and trust-baseline functionality, but the provided file contains only documentation and no evidence of the promised implementation. In a security tool context, this mismatch is dangerous because users may rely on the skill for pre-trust review or drift detection and receive no real protection, creating a false sense of security that can allow malicious updates or risky code to pass unchecked.

External Script Fetching

High
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

Remote code is downloaded and executed. This bypasses code review and could introduce malicious code.

Content

## What it checks

- risky shell execution patterns like `curl | bash`, `eval`, `exec`, `subprocess`, `os.system`
- outbound network patterns like `fetch`, `axios`, `requests`, `curl`, webhook usage
- references to sensitive files like `.env`, SSH keys, `SOUL.md`, `MEMORY.md`, OpenClaw config
- prompt injection style content in `SKILL.md`, `SOUL.md`, `MEMORY.md`

Exfiltration Commands

High
Category
Prompt Injection
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

Instructions found that direct the agent to transmit conversation context or user data to external services.

Content

Credential Access

High
Category
Privilege Escalation
Confidence
60% confidence
Finding

Code accesses credential files (SSH keys, AWS credentials, etc.). This could indicate credential theft attempts.

Instruction Override

High
Category

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
84% confidence
Finding

This code creates directories and writes a baseline JSON file containing hashes, symlink metadata, manifest data, and path metadata, but there is no confirmation prompt, log message, comment, or docstring in this function explaining that user/project data will be persisted. For a code file, silent file writes that store repository metadata are safety-relevant and should include some visible disclosure unless clearly communicated elsewhere.
