GitHub Actions Failure Phase Audit

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill reads user-provided GitHub Actions JSON exports and produces a local failure summary without hidden network, persistence, or destructive behavior.

Install only if you are comfortable letting the skill read the GitHub Actions JSON files matched by RUN_GLOB. Keep RUN_GLOB scoped to exported workflow-run files, especially when those exports may include private repository names, branches, URLs, or job metadata.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The skill reads local JSON files via a configurable glob but does not declare any tool scope, permissions, or allowed-tools constraints. That makes the skill's file access capability implicit rather than bounded, increasing the risk that it is run with broader filesystem access than intended or that operators cannot accurately assess what data it may read.
