Security audit

topic-demand-validation

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed public research workflow that uses a scoped Crawlora API helper to collect search and social evidence for topic validation.

Before installing, understand that your topic queries and Crawlora API key will be used to call Crawlora's external API. Keep searches to non-sensitive public research topics, review Crawlora's service terms/privacy posture for your use case, and set an API budget because successful calls may be billable.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The skill invokes shell-based helper commands (scripts/crawlora.sh ...) but does not declare any explicit tool restrictions such as allowed-tools or permissions. That creates unnecessary execution latitude: if an agent/runtime supports shell access broadly, user-controlled topic/query inputs could flow into command execution paths or enable unintended command use beyond the narrow data-collection purpose.
