Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed vendor-research workflow that uses a scoped Crawlora API helper and does not show hidden persistence, privilege escalation, or unrelated data access.

Before installing, be aware that searches, scrape URLs, and the Crawlora API key are sent to Crawlora. Avoid putting confidential budgets, internal architecture, credentials, or non-public procurement details into search queries unless you are comfortable sharing them with that service.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Lp3

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding
The skill invokes shell-based tooling (`scripts/crawlora.sh`) but does not declare any explicit tool scope or permissions boundaries. That creates a governance gap: an agent may be allowed broader shell usage than intended, increasing the chance of unintended command execution or access beyond the minimum needed for this task.

External Transmission

Data Exfiltration
Content
#!/usr/bin/env bash
# Crawlora REST helper — minimal, dependency-free (curl only).
# Calls https://api.crawlora.net/api/v1 with your Crawlora API key.
# Get a free key (2,000 credits/mo, no card) at https://crawlora.net?utm_source=github&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=crawlora-skills.
#
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding
Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

# Keep the API key out of the curl process command line. A private temporary

Commands invoke sudo or root privileges. Verify this elevated access is necessary and justified.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding
The skill directs the agent to send an API key to a third-party service and scrape external vendor pages, but it does not clearly warn about what user data may be transmitted or how sensitive requirements should be handled. In this context, procurement requirements, internal tooling details, budgets, and integration needs could be disclosed to external services if the agent is not careful.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding
The natural-language description states that Bing search defaults to country=us and lang=en-us. This imposes a specific locale by default, and the file does not indicate user opt-in or a documented justification for the constraint, which matches the language/locale policy violation category.
