Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed Crawlora API helper for search and keyword research, with expected third-party query transmission and no hidden persistence or destructive behavior found.

Install this only if you are comfortable sending search and trend queries to Crawlora using your Crawlora API key. Avoid putting secrets, credentials, private customer data, or highly sensitive research topics in query strings or POST bodies unless your organization permits that third-party processing.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Lp3

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
84% confidence
Finding
The skill clearly instructs use of a shell helper (`scripts/crawlora.sh`) to make network requests, but it does not declare any explicit tool scope or allowed-tools restrictions. That creates an avoidable trust gap: an agent may execute shell commands with broader capabilities than intended, increasing the chance of misuse or command adaptation beyond the documented API calls.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding
The reference clearly documents that all requests are sent to the third-party Crawlora API and that user-supplied query parameters are transmitted there, but it does not provide any explicit privacy warning or usage caveat to downstream users. In a search/research skill, user queries can contain sensitive business intent, personal data, or investigative topics, so silent third-party transmission creates a real data exposure risk even if it is operationally expected.

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Content
Endpoints this skill uses, grouped by platform. Call them via `scripts/crawlora.sh` (see SKILL.md).

All paths are relative to the API base `https://api.crawlora.net/api/v1` and require the header `x-api-key: $CRAWLORA_API_KEY`. Path params like `{id}` are substituted into the URL; `GET` params go in the query string; `POST` params go in a JSON body.

**36 endpoints across 5 platform group(s).**
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding
The file instructs the skill to send requests, including user-provided search inputs, to an external service at api.crawlora.net using an API key. External transmission is expected for this skill’s function, but it is still a real security/privacy boundary because sensitive prompts, search terms, or metadata may leave the host environment and be exposed to third-party processing or logging.

Finding
Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

# Keep the API key out of the curl process command line. A private temporary

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding
Several endpoint descriptions state defaults such as country=us and lang=en or lang=en-us, which bakes in a specific language/locale behavior. Under SQP-3, forcing a specific language or locale without user opt-in or clear justification is a natural-language policy concern.
