Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed Reddit research helper that sends user-selected public Reddit queries to Crawlora, with one under-emphasized lead-finding endpoint users should notice.

Install only if you are comfortable sending selected Reddit search terms, public usernames, subreddit names, domains, post IDs, and the Crawlora API key to Crawlora. Avoid using sensitive private identifiers as queries, and review the documented /reddit/leads endpoint if lead-generation or prospecting use is not desired.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands

Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
91% confidence
Finding
The skill invokes shell commands via `scripts/crawlora.sh` but does not declare any tool restrictions such as `allowed-tools` or permissions. That omission can cause an agent platform to expose broader execution capability than intended, increasing the risk of command execution abuse, argument injection through downstream helpers, or use of the shell outside the narrowly described Reddit-research purpose.

Content
Endpoints this skill uses, grouped by platform. Call them via `scripts/crawlora.sh` (see SKILL.md).

All paths are relative to the API base `https://api.crawlora.net/api/v1` and require the header `x-api-key: $CRAWLORA_API_KEY`. Path params like `{id}` are substituted into the URL; `GET` params go in the query string; `POST` params go in a JSON body.

**12 endpoints across 1 platform group(s).**
Confidence
84% confidence
Finding
The skill is designed to transmit user-supplied queries and identifiers to an external service (`api.crawlora.net`) using an API key, which creates an external data-sharing boundary. In a research skill this is expected, but it is still security-relevant because sensitive search terms, usernames, domains, or post IDs may be sent off-platform and may appear in provider logs or telemetry.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

Medium
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding
The documented `reddit_leads` endpoint expands the skill from passive Reddit research into lead-generation and prospecting, which is materially different from the manifest’s stated research-focused scope. This creates a scope mismatch that can enable undisclosed marketing/sales-intelligence use and weaken user consent and policy review, especially because lead-scoring may involve additional model-based classification.

Finding
Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Confidence
85% confidence
Finding
This markdown file documents network calls to an external API and explicitly requires the `x-api-key: $CRAWLORA_API_KEY` header, but it does not include any user-facing warning about sending data to a third-party service or using credentials. Under the markdown-file criteria for SQP-2, externally transmitted data and credential use should be disclosed when they may affect privacy or system integrity.
