Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed patent-search helper that sends user patent queries to Crawlora and does not show hidden persistence, privilege escalation, or unrelated data access.

Install only if you are comfortable using Crawlora as an external patent-data provider. Treat patent search terms, assignee comparisons, and portfolio strategy as potentially sensitive because they are sent to Crawlora along with your API key.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
86% confidence
Finding

The skill advertises and demonstrates shell-based execution via scripts/crawlora.sh but does not declare any explicit tool scope such as permissions or allowed-tools. That creates an avoidable trust gap: an agent or reviewer cannot easily determine from metadata that command execution and outbound network access are required, increasing the chance of over-broad execution in environments with permissive defaults.

External Transmission

Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
60% confidence
Finding

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
91% confidence
Finding

The parameter description states that lang defaults to en, which imposes a specific language choice in the documented behavior. Under the policy, forcing a language without explicit user opt-in can be a natural-language locale violation unless it is clearly justified or optional by default.
