Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a disclosed Google Trends helper that sends requests and a Crawlora API key to Crawlora, with no hidden persistence, privilege escalation, or unrelated data access found.

Install only if you are comfortable sending your Crawlora API key and Trends request data to Crawlora. Use a dedicated/revocable key, avoid putting sensitive business plans or private terms in queries unless intended, and keep normal network-access controls around the skill.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Lp3

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
91% confidence
Finding
The skill invokes a shell script (`scripts/crawlora.sh`) but does not declare any tool restrictions such as `permissions` or `allowed-tools`. In an agent environment, undeclared shell capability increases the chance the skill can execute commands beyond what users or reviewers expect, especially when combined with network access and environment-held secrets.

External Transmission

Content
#!/usr/bin/env bash
# Crawlora REST helper — minimal, dependency-free (curl only).
# Calls https://api.crawlora.net/api/v1 with your Crawlora API key.
# Get a free key (2,000 credits/mo, no card) at https://crawlora.net?utm_source=github&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=crawlora-skills.
#
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding
Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Confidence
85% confidence
Finding
The setup instructs users to place an API key in the environment and send it to a third-party service, but it does not explicitly warn that the credential will be disclosed to Crawlora. While this is expected for an API integration, the missing disclosure can mislead users about where their secret is going and whether third-party handling applies.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Confidence
85% confidence
Finding
This markdown file documents calls to an external API and explicitly requires the `x-api-key: $CRAWLORA_API_KEY` header, which means credentials and request contents are sent to a third-party service. The reference is purely operational and does not include any warning about external transmission, credential handling, or privacy implications.
