Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed finance research connector to Crawlora's API and I did not find hidden, destructive, or unrelated behavior.

Install this only if you are comfortable using Crawlora as a third-party data provider. Do not send confidential watchlists, private deal targets, personal financial details, or proprietary research terms unless sharing those request parameters with Crawlora is acceptable.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
Findings (10)

Lp3

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
88% confidence
Finding
The skill invokes a shell helper (`scripts/crawlora.sh`) but does not declare any `permissions` or `allowed-tools` scope. That creates an authorization gap where an agent may be allowed to execute shell-capable behavior more broadly than intended, increasing the blast radius if the skill is misused or prompt-injected into running unintended commands.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Confidence
93% confidence
Finding
The file instructs the skill to send requests to a third-party API using an API key, but it does not warn that user-supplied queries and identifiers may be transmitted off-platform. In a finance research context, users may provide sensitive watchlists, private company targets, or investigative queries, so undisclosed external transmission creates a meaningful privacy and trust risk.

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Content
Endpoints this skill uses, grouped by platform. Call them via `scripts/crawlora.sh` (see SKILL.md).

All paths are relative to the API base `https://api.crawlora.net/api/v1` and require the header `x-api-key: $CRAWLORA_API_KEY`. Path params like `{id}` are substituted into the URL; `GET` params go in the query string; `POST` params go in a JSON body.

**77 endpoints across 5 platform group(s).**
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding
The skill is explicitly configured to transmit data to an external service at api.crawlora.net with credentialed requests. External transmission is expected for this skill's functionality, but it is still security-relevant because any user input passed into these requests leaves the local trust boundary and may expose sensitive research interests or proprietary data to a third party.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

Medium
Confidence
91% confidence
Finding
The manifest describes the skill as researching stocks, crypto, SEC filings, congressional trading, and private-market profiles via Crawlora. This endpoint explicitly adds optional cross-source enrichment for hiring data using ATS-specific careers identifiers, which extends the skill into employment/recruiting intelligence rather than finance/markets research.

Finding
Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.
