Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed Crawlora/GDELT TV coverage search helper, and its network/API-key behavior fits that purpose.

Install only if you intend to use Crawlora for GDELT TV coverage searches. Set CRAWLORA_API_KEY deliberately, avoid sending sensitive query terms unless you are comfortable transmitting them to Crawlora, and keep calls bounded by your requested scope and credit budget.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

The skill advertises shell-based execution via the bundled scripts/crawlora.sh but does not declare an explicit tool scope such as allowed-tools or permissions. That creates unnecessary execution latitude and weakens enforcement boundaries, increasing the risk that a caller or future modification could invoke broader shell capabilities than intended.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
86% confidence
Finding

This markdown file instructs the caller to use an external API endpoint and include an x-api-key header, but it does not provide any user-facing warning that search terms and other request parameters will be sent to a third-party service. Because this is a markdown file, omission of a privacy/integrity warning for networked behavior falls under missing user warnings.
