apk-teardown-research

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed Crawlora API helper for authorized Android APK teardown research, with the main risk being that submitted APKs or URLs go to a third-party service.

Install only if you are comfortable sending APKs, public file URLs, job IDs, and your Crawlora API key to Crawlora. Use it only for apps you are authorized to analyze, and avoid submitting unreleased, proprietary, or secret-bearing APKs unless your organization accepts Crawlora's handling of that data.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands

Category
MCP Tool Poisoning
Confidence
98% confidence
Finding
The declared description suggests a broader APK-analysis skill covering submission of APKs/URLs, retrieval of static-analysis results, version comparison, timelines, and ownership comparison. The actual code is only a minimal API wrapper restricted to four specific Crawlora apk-teardown endpoints. While timeline, diff, and ownership comparison partially align with the description, there is no implementation here for submitting APKs or public URLs, nor for broad static-analysis result inspection. The primary purpose is related, but the declared functionality is materially broader than the implemented behavior in this chunk.

Finding
Without declared permissions the skill's intent is opaque and cannot be validated.

- Get a Crawlora API key at [crawlora.net](https://crawlora.net?utm_source=github&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=crawlora-skills).
- Set `CRAWLORA_API_KEY` in the environment before running the helper.
- The helper reads `CRAWLORA_API_KEY` from the environment and sends requests to `https://api.crawlora.net/api/v1`.

## How it works
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding
The skill explicitly sends APKs or file URLs and an API key to an external third-party service (`api.crawlora.net`). Because APKs can contain proprietary code, credentials, embedded secrets, or unreleased intellectual property, this creates a real data-exfiltration and third-party exposure risk if users submit sensitive packages or URLs without strict controls.

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.
