Economic Data - FRED, World Bank & Market Stats

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a simple paid economic-data API guide with disclosed per-call USDC pricing and no bundled executable code.

Before installing, make sure your x402 wallet or agent runtime has spending limits or confirmation rules that match your budget, because API calls may automatically charge the connected wallet even though the listed prices are small.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The skill states that a first request will return HTTP 402 and that the wallet will auto-pay and retry, but it does not clearly warn the user or agent operator that invoking the skill can trigger real automatic USDC charges. In an agent setting, this creates a risk of unintended spending, repeated paid retries, or abuse through prompt-induced tool calls, especially because the payment behavior is normalized as part of ordinary operation.
