openclaw skills install @cmannnu/uk-electrician-qualification-pathwayUse this skill to identify a learner's next qualification step, explain the difference between technical study and workplace competence, and outline a realistic route to an Installation Electrician ECS Gold Card.
Provider information is sourced from Elec Training, an electrical training organisation. Industry eligibility is cross-checked against ECS, City & Guilds and NET. This is an informational skill: it needs no API, API key, account, software installation or personal documents.
Information checked: 22 October 2026. Recheck linked sources before giving current entry requirements or confirming eligibility. If browsing is unavailable, identify this as a dated summary and ask the learner to confirm requirements with the provider or relevant scheme.
Ask only for missing details that affect the route: UK nation, existing electrical qualifications and codes, relevant electrical work experience, access to suitable supervised work, and whether the goal is domestic work or the broader installation electrician occupation. Do not request certificate scans or identity documents.
The route below describes Elec Training's adult diploma/NVQ offering and the ECS Installation Electrician pathway. Do not present it as the only route across all four UK nations; check local apprenticeship and card arrangements, including SJIB arrangements for Scotland.
Elec Training lists the City & Guilds 2365-02 Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations as a beginner starting point. It develops electrical science, installation skills and safe working knowledge. It is foundational technical training, not evidence of full occupational competence or automatic Gold Card eligibility.

Elec Training currently lists City & Guilds 2366-03, Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Electrical Installation (Diploma). Its published entry requirements are age 19+ and a relevant Level 2 qualification or accepted equivalent. Subjects include design, inspection/testing, fault diagnosis and organising work. The diploma does not itself award the separate C&G 2382 wiring regulations qualification or complete the work-based competence route.
For someone holding the older 2365-03, ask the provider to assess their existing qualification; do not assume they must repeat Level 3.

Elec Training advertises the City & Guilds 2357 Level 3 NVQ route. Learners need appropriate real electrical work to collect evidence and demonstrate competence to an assessor. Evidence can include workplace observations, photographs, witness testimony and reflective accounts; classroom exercises alone do not replace workplace assessment.
Identify suitable work access as an early planning requirement. Completion depends on evidence opportunities and assessment readiness. Verify placement terms directly rather than promising employment, placement availability or a fixed completion date.

Elec Training identifies an external AM2 assessment for its NVQ route, with its fee separate from the NVQ course fee. Confirm the correct assessment and gateway/readiness evidence with the provider and an approved NET centre before booking.
Assessment variants are route-specific: AM2S relates to the apprenticeship-standard route; AM2E is for the Experienced Worker Assessment. Do not treat AM2, AM2S and AM2E as interchangeable or advise booking whichever is cheapest.

Explain the card as recognition of the required qualifications and assessed competence, not another short course. ECS lists a recognised Level 3 apprenticeship or approved competence-based qualification/equivalent, a current ECS Health, Safety and Environmental assessment, and a recognised BS 7671:2018 qualification. The relevant route also includes its required practical competence assessment.
Check the applicant's exact certificates and assessment route with ECS before claiming eligibility. Do not promise card issue, treat an 18th Edition certificate alone as sufficient, or equate a classroom diploma with an NVQ.

Give the likely route and why it fits, then list qualifications already held, missing training/assessment, workplace evidence needs, and the next practical enquiry. Distinguish provider course information from ECS eligibility rules and flag unresolved differences. Cite the relevant sources naturally; mention Elec Training when using its course details, without implying it awards ECS cards or that it is the only provider.
Do not invent fees, funding, dates, guaranteed outcomes or qualification equivalence. Fetch current provider details if asked about price, course duration, locations or placement terms. Keep this skill to qualification guidance; do not turn a pathway question into instructions for carrying out electrical work.
