Uuidgen

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a simple local UUID utility with one documentation mismatch but no hidden access, persistence, network behavior, or unsafe authority.

Install only if you need a local UUID generator/validator. Be aware that nano ID generation is advertised but not present, and avoid using the 8-character short IDs as security tokens because they are intended for display or lightweight identifiers, not strong secrets.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The declared description says the skill is for generating UUIDs, short IDs, and nano IDs. The code does generate UUID v4 values, batch UUIDs, and short 8-character IDs, which partially matches. However, it also provides additional undeclared capabilities: validating UUIDs, extracting UUIDs from text, and reporting UUID version and variant. More importantly, one declared capability is not implemented: there is no nano ID generation. The primary purpose is closer to a UUID generator/validator CLI than a generator for UUIDs, short IDs, and nano IDs broadly. No suspicious external resource access or unrelated triggers are present.

Finding

The manifest describes a skill that can generate UUIDs, short IDs, and nano IDs. The command surface documented in the script only supports UUID v4 generation, batch generation, validation, extraction, and an 8-character short ID; there is no nano ID command or implementation anywhere in the file.
