MCP Server Creator

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a simple MCP server creation guide with broad but purpose-aligned capabilities and no bundled code, hidden execution, persistence, or deceptive behavior.

Before using this skill to build or deploy MCP servers, review any generated server code and give it only scoped credentials and filesystem/database access. Treat deployments, database writes, file management, and command execution as actions that should require explicit user confirmation.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

The skill explicitly describes capabilities to access external tools and services, interact with databases, APIs, and file systems, and execute code and commands, but it does not warn users about those powerful behaviors or their risks. In an agent-skill context, missing safety disclosures can lead users to invoke the skill without understanding that it may trigger external side effects, sensitive data access, or command execution.
