Security audit

WakaTime

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill only provides a read-only WakaTime statistics CLI that uses the declared WAKATIME_API_KEY to call WakaTime endpoints.

Install this only if you intend to let the skill read your WakaTime coding statistics using WAKATIME_API_KEY. Treat the key like a secret, and prefer running the commands only for the date ranges and projects you actually want to inspect.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
89% confidence
Finding

The skill requires environment access to read WAKATIME_API_KEY and performs network requests, but it does not explicitly declare a restrictive tool scope such as permissions or allowed-tools. This creates an avoidable over-privilege/visibility gap: runtimes or reviewers cannot clearly enforce that only the expected env var and network access are permitted, increasing the chance of unintended secret exposure or broader tool use if the skill is extended or misinterpreted.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

Most of the skill's user-facing documentation, command descriptions, notes, and troubleshooting content are written in Chinese, while the file does not state that the skill is region-specific or provide an opt-in language choice. This creates a natural-language policy concern because it effectively enforces a specific language for users without documented justification.
