Security audit

Maven Pom Validator

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a local Maven pom.xml linter that reads user-selected POM files and reports validation findings without network access, persistence, or data mutation.

Before installing, understand that the skill can read whichever pom.xml path the agent asks it to validate and may echo dependency, plugin, and path details in its report. Use it for local Maven POM linting; avoid treating it as a full build security audit.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The skill advertises broad trigger phrases such as "check maven" and "audit pom.xml files" without clear scope boundaries, which can cause the agent to invoke this skill in contexts broader than simple POM linting. Overly permissive activation increases the chance of misrouting user requests, unintended file analysis, or the skill taking precedence over more appropriate and safer domain-specific behaviors.
