CamScanner-Any2Markdown

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill clearly converts user-selected PDFs or images to Markdown by uploading them to CamScanner and downloading the result.

Install only if you are comfortable sending selected documents to CamScanner's servers for processing. Avoid using it for highly confidential, regulated, or third-party-sensitive files unless that upload and the stated retention behavior are acceptable to you.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

This step transmits the user's local document bytes to an external third-party service over the network. Even though the skill discloses the data flow and the transmission is necessary for the advertised functionality, it is still a genuine privacy and data-exfiltration risk because sensitive files may be uploaded off-host.

IN_FILE_ID=$(curl -sS -X POST "$BASE/v1/tools/upload_file/execute" \

External Transmission

Data Exfiltration
Confidence
60% confidence
Finding

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.
