Mailgun

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This Mailgun skill is broad and powerful, but its access, credential handling, write operations, and automation risks are clearly disclosed and gated on user approval.

Install only if you are comfortable letting Maton mediate access to your Mailgun account. Confirm every send, delete, webhook, hosted function, trigger, and destination before it runs, and be especially careful with persistent forwarding to third-party URLs or any use of API keys outside the CLI.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The Mailgun manifest says the skill is for Mailgun email/domain/list/template/suppression operations and explicitly states that Mailgun is not an event source, while this file provides detailed instructions and payload schemas for Linear webhook events. Even though the file says it is shared platform reference text, it still embeds a capability reference for a different product that is not justified by the Mailgun skill's declared purpose.
