Rkhunter

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a low-capability local reference script, but its rkhunter content is mostly generic and should not be relied on as a real rkhunter guide.

Install only if you are comfortable with a very generic reference helper. It does not appear to steal data or change your system, but it should not be treated as authoritative rkhunter operational guidance without checking real rkhunter documentation.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands

Finding

The description claims this is an 'Rkhunter reference tool' for sysops work. The code does not interface with rkhunter, inspect systems, parse configs/logs, or even provide clearly rkhunter-specific reference information. Instead, it serves hardcoded, highly generic boilerplate text that could apply to almost any tool. While it is technically a reference-style CLI, its actual content and behavior are too generic to accurately represent a real rkhunter reference tool, so the declared purpose materially overstates the code’s specificity and usefulness.

Credential Access

Finding

Code accesses credential files (SSH keys, AWS credentials, etc.). This could indicate credential theft attempts.

Intent-Code Divergence

Finding

The top-level comment asserts a specific intent: a reference tool for rkhunter in sysops contexts. However, the implementation consists of generic boilerplate guidance applicable to many tools and domains, which contradicts that stated intent rather than merely omitting minor details.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

Finding

The manifest and header describe this as a tool for working with rkhunter, which implies reference content specifically about the rkhunter utility. Instead, the command outputs are broad, template-like operational advice about generic sysops topics and do not provide concrete rkhunter commands, options, configuration details, or workflows.
