Security audit

Beancount

Security checks across malware telemetry and agentic risk

Overview

This is a local bookkeeping skill that stores financial records on the user's machine; one auxiliary script has under-documented local history logging, but no exfiltration or unsafe automation was found.

Install only if you are comfortable keeping personal finance data in local files under ~/.bookkeeping. Prefer the documented scripts/book.sh commands. If you run scripts/script.sh, be aware it can also create ~/.local/share/beancount/history.log containing command activity.

Finding
The script silently records command activity and arguments to history.log, which can capture sensitive user input such as search terms, added entries, or operational metadata without explicit consent. In a local utility context, undisclosed logging increases privacy risk and can expose secrets if the data directory is backed up, shared, or read by other local processes under the same account.
