Security audit

Openclaw Youtube

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a straightforward YouTube research helper that sends user-supplied search queries to the AIsa API using the configured API key.

Install only if you are comfortable sending YouTube search terms, country/language/filter parameters, and your AIsa API key to AIsa's API. Avoid putting private or sensitive information into search queries, and use a scoped API key if the provider supports it.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
Findings (3)

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
82% confidence
Finding

The skill declares it is user-invocable and requires an API key plus Python/network-capable execution, but it does not define an explicit tool scope such as allowed-tools or permissions. In agents that enforce least-privilege through manifest metadata, this omission can cause the skill to run with broader default capabilities than intended, increasing the risk of unauthorized network access or environment-variable exposure if the implementation is modified or abused.

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
60% confidence
Finding

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

python
class YouTubeClient:
    """OpenClaw YouTube - YouTube SERP Scout API Client."""

    BASE_URL = "https://api.aisa.one/apis/v1"

    def __init__(self, api_key: Optional[str] = None):
        """Initialize the client with an API key."""

Missing User Warnings

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
87% confidence
Finding

This code sends the user's query parameters to a remote API and includes an Authorization bearer token, but the script provides no confirmation prompt or user-facing notice at the point of execution. For a code file, network transmission of user or system data can be flagged when there is no visible disclosure beyond internal docstrings.
