SKILL.md:41:bash pip install auth0-fastapi-api python-dotenvreferences/setup.md:56:bash pip install auth0-fastapi-api python-dotenvreferences/setup.md:62:bash poetry add auth0-fastapi-api python-dotenvTechnical Analysis
The installation instructions do not pin package versions or verify package integrity with cryptographic hashes. Consequently, package managers resolve mutable releases and transitive dependencies from the user's configured registry at installation time.
Installing these dependencies is necessary for the declared FastAPI and Auth0 integration. However, unrestricted dependency resolution is not the minimum safely required behavior. If a package release, transitive dependency, registry account, package index, or local package-manager configuration is compromised, following these instructions could install attacker-controlled code. Python packages may execute code during installation, and imported packages execute with the privileges of the application process.
The package names shown are consistent throughout the documentation, so no specific typosquatting or dependency-confusion package is confirmed. The finding concerns the absence of version and integrity controls.
Attack Path
- An attacker compromises a future release of a named package, one of its transitive dependencies, its publishing account, or a package registry used by the victim.
- A user follows the Skill's unpinned
pip installorpoetry addinstructions. - The package manager resolves the compromised release because no reviewed version, lock file, or hash constraint is specified.
- Attacker-controlled code executes during installation or when the Fa ...[truncated 853 chars]

Remediation Suggestions
- Pin each direct dependency to a reviewed exact version rather than resolving the latest available release.
- Generate and commit a lock file that also constrains transitive dependencies.
- For pip-based deployment, maintain a hash-locked requirements file and install it with:
bash pip install --require-hashes -r requirements.txt - For Poetry, commit
poetry.lockand use locked, non-interactive installation in deployment workflows. - Use only explicitly configured trusted package indexes and disable unintended fallback indexes to reduce dependency-confusion risk.
- Perform installation inside a dedicated virtual environment or isolated build container under a non-privileged account.
- Add dependency vulnerability and provenance checks to CI, and review package updates before regenerating lock files.
- Apply the secured installation guidance consistently in both
