Security audit

Instagram Search

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a disclosed Instagram search integration with Xpoz, with normal third-party service and package-install risks but no evidence of hidden or malicious behavior.

Install only if you are comfortable using Xpoz as a third-party provider for Instagram research. Avoid submitting confidential, regulated, or sensitive prospecting queries unless your organization has approved Xpoz and its data-handling terms, and prefer a pinned or otherwise trusted mcporter installation where possible.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Insecure DependenciesIntroduces malicious components through unsafe dependency sources
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Finding

The skill explicitly requires network access to mcp.xpoz.ai and performs searches/exports through a third-party service, but the user-facing description at the cited section does not clearly warn that search terms, account lookups, and exported results leave the local environment and are transmitted to Xpoz. This can expose sensitive research topics, personal data, or proprietary leads to an external provider, especially because the skill encourages broad content discovery and CSV export.
