Vulnerability Type: Unpinned third-party dependencies and unnecessary dependency exposure
Risk Level: MediumVulnerable code:
text requests>=2.31.0 python-dotenv>=1.0.0 rich>=13.0.0The installation instructions in
SKILL.md:25-27direct users to install these dependencies:text python3 -m pip install -r skills/mooteam/requirements.txtTechnical Analysis
Each dependency uses only a minimum-version constraint. Pip may therefore install any later release available at installation time, including versions that were not present during this audit. The project does not provide a lock file, exact version constraints, or cryptographic hashes to establish that users install the same reviewed artifacts.
Python packages and their build systems can execute code during installation. Imported packages also execute module initialization code with the privileges and environment of the Agent process. A compromised permitted release could consequently access environment variables, including
MOOTEAM_API_TOKENandMOOTEAM_COMPANY_ALIAS, or modify local data accessible to the process.python-dotenvis declared but is not imported or otherwise used by the reviewed Python scripts. This unnecessary dependency increases the supply-chain attack surface without providing functionality to the current implementation.This finding does not establish that the currently available versions are malicious. The risk arises because future, unreviewed versions are automatically eligible for installation.
Attack Path
- An attacker compromises the publishing account or release process of one of the permitted packages.
- The attacker publishes a malicious version whose version number satisfies the lower-bound-only constraint.
- A user follows the documented installation command without a previously locked dependency environment.

Remediation Suggestions
- Pin every runtime dependency to an exact version that has been reviewed and tested.
- Generate a hash-locked requirements file, for example with
pip-compile --generate-hashes, and install withpip install --require-hashes. - Maintain a lock file through a controlled dependency-update process that includes security review and automated testing.
- Remove
python-dotenvunless the application is updated to use it intentionally. - Install dependencies in a dedicated virtual environment under a non-privileged account.
- Run dependency vulnerability and provenance checks in CI before publishing the Skill.
