Autoresearch Loop

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a simple research-process skill with a broad trigger phrase risk, but it does not include hidden code, persistence, credential access, or destructive behavior.

Before installing, be aware that ordinary phrases like "deep dive" may invoke a more structured iterative research workflow than you intended. Use explicit scope and stopping criteria for research tasks, especially when searches or paid tools may be involved.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The trigger phrases include broad, natural-language expressions such as 'deep dive' and 'research this thoroughly' that can appear in ordinary user requests unrelated to this specific skill. This can cause unintended activation of the autonomous iteration behavior, leading the agent to enter a more persistent research loop than the user expected, increasing cost, latency, and the chance of risky tool use or overreach.
