mac trans

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a simple translation helper whose external-service privacy caveat should be understood, but its behavior is disclosed and purpose-aligned.

Before installing, understand that translated text and any selected file contents may be sent to Bing through translate-shell. Do not use it for secrets, credentials, private source code, legal/medical records, or other confidential files unless that disclosure is acceptable.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

The skill explicitly instructs users to send arbitrary text and even whole file contents through trans -e bing, which transmits data to an external translation provider, but it provides no warning about privacy, confidentiality, or data-handling implications. This is dangerous because users may unknowingly submit sensitive local file contents, credentials, source code, or personal data to a third party outside their trust boundary.
