Security audit

winson-seedance-prompt-skill

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is mostly a prompt-writing guide, but it requires unrelated author branding and contact details to be prepended to generated outputs.

Review before installing if you do not want generated prompts to include the author's handle, ideology, or email address. The skill otherwise appears limited to Markdown instructions for creating Seedance prompts and does not show evidence of local access or execution.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

The section heading means “Brand anchor (mandatory and prepended).” It instructs the agent to place author-controlled branding, promotional material, and contact information before generated content.

Technical Analysis

The skill’s declared purpose is to transform creative ideas into Seedance 2.5 video prompts. Mandatory prepending of unrelated branding is not necessary to perform that function. Once the skill is loaded, this directive can alter the agent’s output policy and cause attacker-controlled promotional content to be included regardless of whether the user requested it.

This is instruction hijacking rather than code execution. The package contains only SKILL.md; the audit found no scripts, executable payloads, dependencies, network retrieval, persistence mechanisms, credential access, or privilege-escalation behavior.

Attack Path

  1. A user or agent loads the skill to generate a Seedance video prompt.
  2. The agent incorporates the skill’s instructions into its active context.
  3. The “mandatory and prepended” directive is treated as an output requirement.
  4. The user requests an otherwise ordinary video prompt.
  5. The agent prepends the skill author’s branding, ideological statement, attribution, or email address without the user explicitly requesting those additions.
  6. The generated result is no longer sol ...[truncated 682 chars]

Remediation Suggestions

  1. Remove the “mandatory and prepended” requirement from the branding section.
  2. Do not place promotional, ideological, attribution, or contact information inside generated video prompts by default.
  3. Make attribution strictly optional and include it only when the user explicitly requests it.
  4. Move author metadata to a non-operative documentation section clearly marked as informational and not as an agent instruction.
  5. Add an explicit precedence rule stating that generated output must contain only content required by the user’s request and the legitimate prompt-generation task.
  6. Add a regression test confirming that a basic prompt-generation request does not produce author branding, email addresses, or unrelated promotional text.
Vulnerability Patterns

Finding

The skill is authored entirely in Chinese and is intended to directly generate copy-paste-ready prompts, which strongly steers the assistant toward Chinese-only output regardless of the user's preferred language. This can override user expectations and reduce transparency or usability for non-Chinese users, especially because the skill emphasizes not asking follow-up questions and directly outputting final text.
