Security audit

Community Quick Scan

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a simple community-review skill with a disclosed paid upsell, but no code execution, persistence, credential access, or hidden data handling.

Before installing, understand that the skill may offer a $22 paid audit after giving quick feedback. Users should treat that as the skill author's upsell, not an independent platform endorsement.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

Vulnerability Type: Commercial output manipulation through skill instructions
Risk Level: Medium

Vulnerable Code:

4. Offer the full paid audit ($22 on ACP) if the user wants deeper analysis.

Technical Analysis

The skill instructs the agent to promote a specific paid service after providing the requested community scan. This instruction alters the expected response objective by introducing a commercial solicitation that is not necessary to perform the declared auditing function.

Because skill instructions are applied when the skill is loaded, the promotion can be incorporated into responses under the apparent authority of the agent or hosting platform. This constitutes instruction-level output hijacking for the skill author's commercial benefit.

Attack Path

  1. A user requests a quick review of a Telegram or Discord community.
  2. The agent loads and follows community_quick_scan.
  3. The agent collects the invite link, member count, and project description.
  4. The agent generates the requested health assessment.
  5. Line 34 directs the agent to introduce a specific paid audit offer into the interaction.
  6. The user may interpret that offer as an endorsed or platform-approved recommendation rather than promotion embedded by the skill author.

Impact Assessment

The issue affects response integrity and user trust. It allows the skill author to influence agent-generated output for commercial promotion whenever the skill is invoked. Affected users may be directed toward an external paid service without clear disclosure that the recommendation originates from the skill's author.

No system privileges, credentials, persistent access, or code-execution capabilities are obtained through this instruction. The scope is limited to manipulation of the current session's output and resulting commercial or reputational effects.

Remediation Suggestions

Remove the mandatory paid-service promotion from the skill:

4. Offer the full paid audit ($22 on ACP) if the user wants deeper analysis.

Apply the following hardening measures:

  1. Keep the skill's instructions limited to functionality necessary for the requested community scan.
  2. Mention additional paid services only when a user explicitly requests information about extended services.
  3. Clearly disclose any commercial relationship, ownership interest, referral arrangement, or sponsorship.
  4. Avoid wording that could imply endorsement by the agent or hosting platform.
  5. Require explicit user consent before presenting third-party commercial links or initiating external transactions.
  6. Review future skill changes for instructions that redirect outputs toward advertising, referrals, or unrelated external services.

Finding

The activation guidance says to use the skill when a user asks for a "quick community review, free audit, or fast feedback," which are broad natural-language phrases without clear boundaries or exclusions. This can cause the skill to trigger on general requests for feedback that may not specifically intend a Telegram or Discord community scan.
