Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill’s external API calls, small payments, and weekly checks fit its stated purpose, with a few documentation caveats.

Use public seller URLs without embedded credentials or signed parameters. Keep signing keys in your existing payment client, enforce the advertised payment limit, and approve the weekly schedule. For a real settlement test, include X-DDG-Free-Tier: skip and independently confirm the payment receipt. Treat preflight as potentially paid.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Output HandlingUnvalidated Output Injection, Cross-Context Output, Unbounded Output
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

Data Exfiltration

Finding

Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

The documented paid smoke test does not force the paid path, so it can exercise the free tier instead of verifying settlement.

Medium
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The paid smoke-test command omits the documented X-DDG-Free-Tier: skip header, so an eligible identity may exercise the free route without testing settlement. This weakens a security-relevant payment verification workflow, although the explicit instruction to reject missing PAYMENT-RESPONSE limits false assurance if followed correctly.

Seller endpoint URLs are sent to a third-party service without a privacy warning.

Output Handling
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The workflow directs the agent to submit seller URLs to an external operator without checking whether those URLs contain credentials, signed query parameters, private hostnames, or confidential business relationships. External probing is an explicit part of the service rather than covert exfiltration, but applying it indiscriminately to sellers creates a conditional information-disclosure risk.

  1. Pre-flight any endpoint you are about to depend on — the preflight probes a URL's 402 envelope and verdicts it against v1/v2 + MPP shape rules:
    bash
    curl -s -X POST https://agents.daedalusdevelopmentgroup.com/v1/402/preflight \
      -H 'content-type: application/json' -H "X-Agent-Id: $DDG_AGENT_ID" \
      -d '{"url":"https://seller.example.com/paid-route"}' > out/preflight.json
