Edge Tts

Security checks across malware telemetry and agentic risk

Overview

This skill coherently configures OpenClaw to use Microsoft Edge text-to-speech, with the main caution that automatic mode can send AI reply text to Microsoft for speech synthesis.

Before installing, confirm you want automatic speech for AI replies. If conversations may contain sensitive information, avoid auto=always or switch it to never/mention, because Edge TTS synthesis may send reply text to Microsoft’s service. Review the install script before running it since it changes OpenClaw config and restarts the gateway.

Finding
The README instructs users to enable automatic TTS for AI replies but does not clearly disclose that reply content will be transmitted to the external Edge TTS service for synthesis. This creates a real privacy and data-handling risk because users may unknowingly send sensitive chat content off-box whenever auto-TTS is enabled.
