The research-papers skill is a legitimate tool for academic literature search and review generation using the OpenAlex and Unpaywall APIs. The core logic in scripts/scholar-search.py implements searching, DOI lookup, and local caching in a standard directory (~/.openclaw/). While the script can execute an external staging script (stage_media.py) via subprocess.run for integration with the qqbot-send skill, this behavior is documented and aligned with the stated purpose of handing off long reports. No evidence of data exfiltration, malicious obfuscation, or harmful prompt injection was found.
