Overview

This migration skill does what it says, but its backup archives can contain sensitive Clawdbot state and must be protected like account credentials.

Install only if you intend to create or restore a full Clawdbot backup. Treat exported archives as highly sensitive, avoid --include-credentials unless necessary, avoid --force unless restoring onto a fresh or intentionally replaceable setup, and import only archives you created or fully trust.

The migration instructions describe importing a full installation, including WhatsApp sessions and optionally credentials, but do not prominently warn that restore operations can overwrite an existing workspace and reintroduce highly sensitive data onto the target machine. A user may run the import on the wrong system or into a populated workspace, causing unintended data exposure, session takeover, or destructive overwrite of current state.

The script copies WhatsApp session data by default whenever the directory exists, even though sessions typically contain long-lived authentication material that enables account takeover or impersonation. In a migration tool this is contextually relevant, but making it opt-out rather than explicit opt-in materially increases the chance that sensitive session secrets are exported, shared, or stored insecurely without the operator realizing it.
