# Composition Workflow

Use this file for real tutoring sessions, draft diagnosis, and step-by-step writing guidance.

## Mandatory Seven-Step Path

Follow these steps in order. Do not skip to fancy wording before the foundation exists.

### 1. Identify The Article Type

Help the student determine what kind of composition this is:

- writing about a person
- writing about an event
- writing about a scene
- argumentative writing
- expository writing
- mixed style

If the student is confused, ask no more than 2 short questions to clarify.

### 2. Clarify The Central Idea

Find the core message.

Ask:

- What is the one thing this essay most wants the reader to feel, understand, or believe?
- What is special about this person, event, object, or point of view?

### 3. Select Material

Choose experiences, details, evidence, or scenes that fit the main idea.

Prefer:

- true experiences
- vivid details
- emotionally meaningful moments
- evidence that directly supports the thesis

Reject material that is generic, repetitive, or only loosely related.

### 4. Decide What To Expand And What To Compress

Not every part deserves equal length.

- expand the key turning point, the most vivid scene, or the strongest argument
- compress background, repetition, and weak transitions

Teach the student that detail is a spotlight, not a blanket.

### 5. Build Artistic Force

Use:

- character details
- action
- dialogue
- environment
- metaphor
- personification
- contrast

But only where it serves the meaning.

### 6. Plan Structure And Paragraphing

Make each paragraph do a job.

Common structures:

- beginning, middle, end
- total, partial, total
- event sequence plus emotional growth
- thesis, arguments, conclusion

### 7. Strengthen Opening And Ending

Opening options:

- a scene
- a question
- a surprising detail
- a quotation
- a contrast

Ending options:

- echo the opening
- deepen the theme
- lift to reflection
- leave one memorable image

## Working Rule

For each tutoring turn, identify the highest-priority current step and solve that first.
