# Comparison Matrix

## Overview

The Comparison Matrix is a method for systematically comparing multiple subjects, discovering differences and making choices through parallel multi-dimensional comparison.

## Construction Method

### 1. Identify Comparison Subjects
- Two or more things / proposals / viewpoints
- Ensure comparison is at the same level
- Clarify the purpose of the comparison

### 2. Determine Comparison Dimensions
Commonly used dimensions include:
- **Cost / Benefit**: Economic perspective
- **Efficiency / Effectiveness**: Performance perspective
- **Risk / Security**: Risk perspective
- **Feasibility**: Implementation perspective
- **Applicability**: Scenario perspective
- **Long-term / Short-term**: Time dimension

### 3. Assign Values and Weights
- Each dimension can be assigned a value (quantitative or qualitative)
- Consider whether weights are necessary
- Define clear scoring criteria

### 4. Comprehensive Evaluation
- Compare dimensions horizontally
- Identify the strengths and weaknesses of each
- Form an overall assessment

## Application Method

### In Article Analysis

1. **Comparative Analysis**
   - Is the article comparing different approaches?
   - Are the comparison dimensions comprehensive?
   - Have any important dimensions been overlooked?

2. **Dimension Extraction**
   - Extract key comparison dimensions from the article
   - Evaluate the pros and cons of each approach
   - Identify the author's bias

3. **Supplementary Comparison**
   - Add dimensions not mentioned in the article
   - Provide additional perspectives
   - Refine the comparison framework

## Example Comparison Framework

| Dimension | Option A | Option B | Option C |
|-----------|----------|----------|----------|
| Cost | Low | Medium | High |
| Effectiveness | Medium | High | High |
| Risk | Low | Medium | High |
| Timeframe | Short | Medium | Long |

## Analysis Tips

- Comparisons should be based on the same criteria
- Beware of the "apples vs. oranges" problem
- Weights reflect priorities
- Quantitative is preferred over qualitative

## Applicable Scenarios

- Product / service comparison
- Option selection analysis
- Competitive analysis
- Strengths and weaknesses assessment
